Playing in KUALA TERENGGANU? Without going to Redang is that a waste?
Some says YES, but some says NO for those who like heritage because Kuala Terengganu really full with the heritage.
From the statistic, we know that Terengganu is a Malay state but there are Chinese here, yes I am. I saying this because some don’t believe that Terengganu have Chinese.
Heritage in Terengganu, WOW! That day, few of my friend’s friends coming here to play, don’t know whether they feels bored with our lifestyle or not, but the days bringing them to plays around let me found that I likes here so much as a tourism spot (besides the islands).
In the first day, we go to China town which is located in the centre of K.T town. Although many shops were close because that day is Friday which is a weekend here but we still manage to shops for “Chinese white keropok”, some souvenir and at the same day, we manage to eat the “xiao mian bao” which means small buns in china town as our breakfast. You should stop and try it when you are in china town (morning only if I am not mistaken).
This is the second times where my friend’s friends coming to Terengganu but still thank to my friend that she still inviting me to go around with them. This giving me a chance to meets new friends from all over Malaysia.
The second place where shows a lot of Terengganu’s nice heritage is the Terengganu state museum. For last years we had choose to use the city heritage bus (which is still free until now) to go there, but this years we choose to use the traditional boat from the jetty near the market. It cost us RM 40 for the whole boat per an hour. Maximum number of guest to use a boat is 12.
Riding the boat is another amazing and attractive activities (it my own view). In the boat, we experience the long Terengganu River and the water front view from the boat. Actually, we planed to ride on the boat to the Duyong island to see the Terengganu traditional boat making, but according to the Pak Cik that ride us, we cant’ go there that time because of the rising of the river. It’s quite dangerous for us, so we cancelled the plan and just go for a ride along the water front of Terengganu River. The boat takes us along the Terengganu’s river and finally it takes around 50 minutes for us to the state museum.
Museum, some says it a boring place but for me it’s a learning centre. We start our museum journey first at the outdoor. At the outdoors, we saw the traditional boat in Terengganu (for more details picture, you can log on to my facebook: laibo86@hotmail.com). Is nice, although is really tiring because the museum is really big for long walk outside. Terengganu state museum is one of the largest museum in Malaysia. Not only boat but also some heritage house and Istana which is popular in Terengganu for example Istana Tengku Long were exhibited at museum outdoor. The Istana Tengku Long which is the Istana that do not use of nail to build. The building is the real Istana that relocated in the Terengganu State Museum. In the museum, there are three main blocks that open for us to travel which shows the Terengganu Malay traditional cloth, traditions and etc.
We were having our lunch at the museum. Just to mentions here about the café of the museum. The chicken rice there was nice and what is the most delicious is the keropok there. Wow! You must try it. Lastly a small comment for the bus is the time for the bus.
